Flanker Inhibition Test - Frequently Asked Questions

Five arrows appear in a row. You must press the direction of the middle arrow and ignore the four surrounding ones. When flankers point the opposite way, most people slow down โ€” that is the interference effect.
Your brain automatically processes the flanking arrows. Suppressing the wrong response uses inhibitory control, which measurably slows your reaction time โ€” the Stroop-like interference.
Each correct trial is worth 50 points (1000 max). A bonus rewards very fast correct responses, so accuracy and speed both matter.
