Mastermind Game - Frequently Asked Questions

A black peg shows a guessed color is exactly right in position. A white peg shows the color is in the code but in a different position. Unmarked guesses are not in the code at all.

Start with a guess of four different colors to gather information, then use the feedback to eliminate colors and pin down positions one by one.

Score = (9 − guess number) × 10, so cracking the code on your first guess scores 80 and solving on the last of 8 guesses scores 10.
