How many tiles do I need for a room?
Multiply the room length by the width to get the area, then add a waste factor (usually 10%) for cuts and breakage. Divide by the area of one tile and round up.
What waste factor should I use?
10% is standard for straightforward rooms. Use 15% for diagonal layouts, small bathrooms or rooms with many corners.
How many tiles per square meter?
For 60×60 cm tiles: 2.78 tiles/m². For 30×30 cm: 11.11 tiles/m². Divide 1 by the tile area in m² (0.6×0.6 = 0.36 → 1/0.36 ≈ 2.78).
How do I measure a floor for tiles?
Measure length and width in meters and multiply. For L-shaped rooms, split into rectangles and add them together.
Do I need to add extra for cuts?
Yes — tiles rarely fit exactly. Always add 10% (more for patterns or diagonal layouts) to cover cuts, mistakes and future repairs.

What is the best tile size for a small room?
